Privacy Policy

Cardinal (“the App”) is a sidereal astrology application. This policy explains what data we handle and what we do not. We designed Cardinal so your birth details stay under your control.

1. Data stored on your device

The App stores the following locally on your phone (for example via on-device storage):

• Birth date, time, and location you enter
• Chart preferences (ayanamsa, chart style, display options)
• Cached horoscope readings and history
• Credit balance and unlock flags for paid readings
• Optional server URL you configure in Settings

We do not require a Cardinal account to use the core App.

2. Data sent to the Cardinal server

When you request a chart, horoscope, city search, synastry reading, or similar feature, the App sends the minimum parameters needed for that calculation (for example birth date/time, coordinates, timezone, and preference flags) to the Cardinal API server you are connected to.

The server uses this information to compute sidereal positions and generate interpretive text. It is not used to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information.

2a. Anonymous usage analytics (optional)

To improve the App, we may log anonymous usage events (for example horoscope refresh, paywall view, purchase start, share success) to the Cardinal server. These events include a random device identifier generated on your phone — not your name or email — and optional metadata such as which reading model was used. We use this only to understand product performance, not for advertising.

3. Purchases

Digital purchases (credits, Deep Dive, Quantum Dive, or subscriptions) are processed by Google Play / Apple (when available). Payment details are handled by those platforms, not by Cardinal. Purchase restoration follows the platform’s rules.

4. Notifications

If you grant notification permission, the App may schedule a local daily reminder (for example an 8 AM horoscope one-liner). You can revoke permission in system settings.

5. Location

If you use “detect location,” the App may request location permission to set your current coordinates for transit calculations. Location is used for astrology math, not for tracking you across apps.

6. Third-party services

• City search may query OpenStreetMap-related geocoding services (Nominatim / Photon).
• Optional AI providers (for example local Ollama models or OpenAI when configured) generate interpretive text from transit data.
• Cloudflare Tunnel or similar may be used to expose a development or production API securely over HTTPS.

7. Children’s privacy

Cardinal is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Your choices

• Clear App data / uninstall to remove local birth profile and caches.
• In Settings → Privacy, use Delete my data on this device to wipe local caches and request server-side deletion for your device id.
• Change or remove the server URL in Settings.
• Deny location or notification permissions in system settings.
• Web form: support.html data-deletion request (processed within 30 days; residual fingerprint-keyed chart caches may be retained anonymously).

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the App evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
